Diane Huson  CFS

My love of flowers and nature are reflected in my highly detailed, representational watercolours and oils. I am drawn to dramatic shadows and lighting to bring impact to my work. As an avid photographer, I take many of my own photos and incorporate the subject matter into my paintings.

Diane Huson was born in British Columbia, Canada, and completed her Fine Arts Diploma from Malaspina College on Vancouver Island.
Originally an oil painter, she expanded her expertise into watercolour after she moved to Toronto in the mid 1980’s. People and animals were her favorite subjects. Her work as a florist, and her love of gardening encouraged her to begin painting florals and nature. She is an accomplished photographer and uses all her own references for her paintings.
Diane has been commissioned over the years to paint portraits, animals, landscapes, architectural buildings, florals and book illustrations.  Her work has been displayed on two book covers with a distribution of 200,000 copies. Her prints and paintings have hung in Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Hospices across Canada, as well as numerous personal collections in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, England and The Netherlands.
In 2007, Diane decided to paint in traditional oil again. Studies of dramatic shadows and lighting in nature on large canvas are her key focus.  Diane’s paintings, in both watercolour and oil, have been accepted into numerous juried shows and have won many awards. Her latest accomplishment is obtaining Elected Member status in the Colour and Form Society of Ontario in 2022.
Diane is a longstanding member of the Oshawa Art Association, The Station Gallery, Whitby, PineRidge Arts Council, Pickering  and most recently, an Elected Member of the Colour and Form Society of Ontario.
Diane is currently represented by Westmount Gallery, Toronto, Ontario and lives in Whitby, Ontario where she and her husband have resided for over 30 years.  www.dianehuson.ca
